Mission Statement:
Delta County Airport is committed to fostering the economic development of the Delta County Area by supporting the aeronautical needs of the local community and regional patrons in a financially responsible manner.
Goals and Objectives:
The Delta County Airport Advisory Board and Airport Management shall fulfill their mission through the safe and efficient operation, maintenance, and development of aviation infrastructure and services needed to support local communities. Concurrently, they shall remain accountable to all airport stakeholders, including the constituents of Delta County, as well as airport employees, tenants, regulatory agencies, and other vested bodies.
Accountability:
Delta County Airport is accountable to and provides services to airport users, tenants, and customers. Moreover, the Airport is financially accountable to Delta County and its residents, through the fiduciary usage of Federal, State, and local resources, including grants, appropriations, and other approved means of funding.
Delta County Airport additionally meets the regulatory obligations of the following Federal agencies, including any State or local bodies that operate on their behalf:
- Department of Agriculture (Natural Resources Conservation Service)
- Department of Health and Human Services (Office for Civil Rights)
- Department of Homeland Security (Transportation Security Administration)
- Department of the Interior (U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service)
- Department of Transportation (Federal Aviation Administration)
- Environmental Protection Agency
- Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) Office of Aeronautics
- Delta County
Delta County Airport will also make every effort to operate in a sustainable manner, including taking a sensitive approach to the needs of the community and environment while embracing eco-friendly technologies for energy and operations where fiscally viable.
Delta County Airport will additionally maintain the requisite facilities and procedures to:
- Address the needs of the General Aviation community;
- Provide a welcoming gateway to all visitors;
- Enable the acquisition of new assets where and when needed;
- Maintain and retain current airport assets not limited to real property, runways, taxiways, aprons, ramps, and buildings;
- Maintain modern and up-to-date facilities;
- Provide a safe environment for all patrons, employees, and members of the public; and
- Support current and future General Aircraft and commercial operations.
Action Plan:
- Airport Advisory board is responsible for providing the Delta County Board of Commissioners and Airport Administration with guidance concerning community aeronautical needs as well as advice on long-term plans for Airport.
- Establish relationships with local and regional economic development organizations in order to maximize airports impact on local economy.
- Establish and maintain relationships with regional airlines in order to increase the number of flights in and out of the Airport and improve viability of flight schedule.
- Develop plans to attract aviation-related businesses to the Airport.
- Promote the Airport as a gateway for local activities and attractions.
- Plan and support activities that foster greater community visibility of the Airport.
- Review and update Airport procedures as discrepancies are discovered.
