To obtain a marriage license:
- Preferably both applicants must appear to fill out an application. Applicants 16 years of age must appear with a parent or guardian and present his/her birth certificate, as well as picture identification for the parent or guardian.
- Michigan residents must apply in the county of residence and then can be married in any county in the state. Non-residents must apply in the county the marriage will take place
You may also download, print and complete attached Marriage License application before coming into the office, please download both pages. When filling out the application, at least one signature must be notarized or signed in our office.
Please note that there is a three day waiting period after filling out an application before the license may be obtained.
Marriage license is valid for 30 days — marriage must be performed within that 30 days.
