Pioneer Trail Park & Campground is a 74-acre parcel fronted by US Highway 2/41/M35 and along the Escanaba River. The park has a strong recreation tradition among county residents and its visitors. There are several picnic and playground areas, a ball field, a disc-golf course, large and small pavilions, a boat launch, and access to shoreline fishing along the river.
The campground offers 78 sites with electric (50 AMP) and water hookups as well as 21 sites with electric (50 AMP), water, and sewer hookups. The campground also has 5 rustic cabins along the Escanaba River shoreline. The cabins have electricity but no running water. Cabins are outfitted with a table, a couch, a recliner, and a double bed with a twin bunk above. Some cabins have an additional loft that is carpeted. Campground amenities include a modern bathhouse, showers, laundry, two dump stations, fire pits for each site and firewood.
